Igniting Student Passion to Create a Global Community of Problem Solvers
The LAB Program
Promoting Student-Led Projects in Environmental Science
The LAB Program is centered on four thematic principles: environmental science, project-based and place-based learning, student leadership, and cross-cultural navigation. Students form teams and conduct research on their project related to the LAB annual theme which is always tied to environmental science. Although structured as a competition, the program emphasises the scientific research and learning process and gives students the opportunity to showcase their projects and learn from one another. In this process, we connect students and teachers to their counterparts, encourage student-centered learning, and inspire students to take initiative in their learning and their community.
The Global LAB
Bringing Students and Teachers Together for Academic and Cultural Sharing
The Global LAB is the culmination of the LAB Program, which convenes qualified teams from different schools and countries across the Asia-Pacific region once a year. The week-long Global LAB is hosted in a city in Southeast Asia and is full of activities. Students present their projects to a panel of judges as well as to teachers, other participants, and local students and educators to further share their research and findings. Other activities include site visits to cultural and environmental sites, which have included national conservation parks and heritage villages.
Global LAB 2020 will be held from 14-21 July 2020 in Thailand (tentative).
